TND: ROCHESTER, N.Y. On Friday, a transgender collegiate track and field athlete from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in New York broke two new marks.
At the RIT January Friday Meet, Sadie Schreiner broke the 200-meter record and earned a spot in the Atlantic Region Championship with a mark of 25.27 seconds. The runner finished in 40.78 seconds, shattering the 300-meter record as well.
“Last weekend’s wild meet!” Instagram posts from Schreiner. “Running until I can no longer walk.”
In addition, the sophomore won the Liberty League Women’s Track & Field Performer of the Week title after finishing first in the 4×400-meter relay. Schreiner’s performance on the website , which was formerly known as Twitter, was criticized by the Independent Council on Women’s Sports (ICONS).
Biological male runner, Sadie (Camden) Schreiner, is your new regional collegiate meet record holder in the women’s 200 meter dash.
