Loretta Lynn, an accomplished country music vocalist and prolific songwriter, enjoyed a remarkable career, leaving a permanent mark on the genre. She earned multiple awards and accolades throughout her illustrious career.
Over the years, Loretta released numerous chart-topping hits, including “Coal Miner’s Daughter” and “Fist City,” solidifying her status as a country music legend. The iconic figure in country music history was also a mom.
Loretta and her husband, Oliver Lynn, had six kids, who blessed them with several grandchildren. Presently, Loretta’s granddaughter, Emmy Russell, is treading the path paved by her illustrious grandmother. Emmy is the daughter of one of Loretta’s twin daughters, Patsy Lynn Russell.
Striving to exceed the legacy of her iconic Nashville roots, Emmy has recently auditioned for the 22nd season of American Idol. The singer appeared before judges, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie.
Emmy told the judges that she had sung her entire life and that she loved songwriting. “I love music,” the 24-year-old shared. The singer confessed that she doesn’t sing as much anymore but growing up, she used to sing on the road with her grandmother. “My grandmother was a country singer,” said Emmy.
Judges were amazed when they heard that Emmy’s grandmother was Loretta. She explained that her family was raised in the Redlands Ranch in Hurricane Mills Tennessee. Via a short clip, Emmy took viewers on a tour of the Redlands Ranch, which has a huge sign that reads, “WELCOME TO LORETTA LYNN’S RANCH.”
Loretta’s house exuded the timeless elegance and charm of a bygone era. The dining room is adorned with antique furniture and features a sturdy wooden dining table, complemented by intricately carved chairs and cabinets, and a magnificent chandelier.
Emmy takes viewers into her grandmother’s bedroom, where a white pillow decorated with Loretta’s art face welcomes them. Loretta’s bedroom is decorated with an off-pink color. Her pictures hang on the wall and Emmy proudly showed off her white slippers.
The “Lay Me Down” singer’s bed is well spread with multiple pillows resting elegantly on it. The bed’s high headboard is also stylishly decorated. A lamp rests on one side of the bed while the other side is occupied by a cute white-framed mirror.
A doll written “Coal Miner’s Daughter” as well as a huge memorial plaque with the same words are shown off in the short video. Emmy also shows off her grandmother’s writing room, which hosts a piano and a portrait of the late singer.
In the kitchen, brown cabinets line the walls, providing ample storage space. A cooker and fridge stand at opposite ends, ready for use. Utensils sit atop the cabinets, easily accessible. In one corner stands a headless mannequin, wearing an apron and holding a cooking stick, adding a unique touch to the space.
