He often dazzles audiences with his sophisticated, slightly ambitious characters, and he is widely recognized for his refined accent and grumbling voice. He is known for his roles in “The Three Musketeers” and “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”

Despite Curry’s impressive career encompassing numerous blockbusters such as “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York,” many fans have noticed the actor’s recent absence from films. He also went a bit deeper, delving into his personal life. The usually private public figure has given fans a glimpse into his life.

Curry was also overjoyed to be receiving the Actors Fund’s lifetime achievement award, saying he admires the organization.

Many fans were stunned after Curry shared his health struggles, although most were glad to have an update. Read on for all the details concerning Curry’s recent hiatus and what the “Muppet Treasure Island” actor said about his sexuality.

What Happened to Tim Curry?
Ever since 2012, Curry seemed to disappear from films completely. He stopped starring in roles and left fans without any explanation. Recently, Curry has been reappearing in public gradually but still hasn’t returned to the silver screen. In 2016, the actor attended a film premiere, and in 2019, he was a guest at a comic convention in North Carolina.

Although little is known about Curry’s personal life, he has revealed some information concerning his family.
Fans were shocked to see him in a wheelchair on both occasions, and he looked much older than before he disappeared. It turns out Curry suffered a stroke in 2012, which has left him wheelchair-bound and unwilling to return to films. However, he mentioned his humor has been “absolutely vital” to his recovery. He commented on staying funny:

“It’s not tough to maintain. It is just part of my DNA.”

Fans reacted to the news of Curry’s stroke, commenting that he looked weak. One expressed, “This is the one and only Tim Curry. He is wheelchair bound, post-stroke, and in the middle of a pandemic… and STILL signing autographs for his fans.” Another fan commented:

“Oh, goodness. He looks terribly frail, I hope he’s on the mend. Been a fan for so long, he’s the absolute best. Just watched CLUE the other night, nothing like a Tim Curry.”

Another fan responded to seeing Curry, “Well I just went from zero to SOBBING IN 2.5 seconds.” Despite fans’ reactions to seeing the actor, Curry insisted he’s “doing well.” Curry was also overjoyed to be receiving the Actors Fund’s lifetime achievement award, saying he admires the organization.

What Did Tim Curry Say about His Sexuality and Personal Life?
As a highly private actor, Tim has refused to comment on his personal life in the past. The actor has even kept quiet about his marital status but did mention that he was “almost married” years ago. However, who he almost tied the knot with, and why it didn’t work out remains a mystery.

Although little is known about Curry’s personal life, he has revealed some information concerning his family. He stated that he has no children, although he has a nephew and two nieces. Curry had a sister, Judith Curry, who sadly passed away in 2001

Curry has refused to elaborate on whether he’s seeing someone at the moment, and he has always been adamant that his sexual life has nothing to do with his fans. He prefers to keep his life closed off, gaining renown for his work and talent rather than using his personal life to create publicity. He remarked:

“I don’t talk about who I’m [expletive] or whether I’m in love. It’s of paramount interest to me and very little interest to your readers. If it is of interest to them, then [expletive] ’em.”

Curry, who suffered from a stroke just like Randy Travis, spoke out about his early life, saying his mother passed away in June 1999 after a long battle with cancer. He has also revealed that his father passed away at the age of 45. Curry was merely 12 when his dad, a Royal Navy Chaplain, died.
